On Thursday, July 28, 2011, L-3 announced a plan to spin off a new, publicly traded government services company that will include its Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA), Training and Operational support businesses. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2012.

Upon completion of the transaction, the new public company will be named Engility. Until that time, L-3’s current Engility business unit will continue to operate under its existing name.
